If you’ve been following The Bargaining Bandit for any amount of time, you know my love for Sol de Janeiro runs deep. I’m especially fond of the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. Living in Texas, I will try anything that promises hydrating, nourishing results. The Bum Bum Cream does just that and more. I love how soft it leaves my skin and the amazing scent it leaves.
So, when Target released a competitor, naturally I was intrigued. I had to try the new line from Tree Hut – specifically the Tropic Glow Firming Whipped Shea Body Butter and the Firming Sugar Scrub.
Sol de Janeiro vs Tropic Glow
I went in hesitant, because how can you even compete with Sol de Janeiro, right? It smells amazing, gives me the perfect hydrated skin, and is something I never let go out of stock.
Trust me when I say the Tropic Glow products hold their own against the fan-favorite Bum Bum Cream. The Firming Whipped Shea Body Butter has the BEST TEXTURE. It also smells incredible! It’s not quite as hydrating as the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, but for the money – it’s worth it. The Tropic Glow Body Butter comes in at $8 per 240 ml., whereas the Bum Bum Cream is $48 for that same size. Overall, I would still pay the $48 for the Bum Bum Cream but also LOVE the Tropic Glow Body Butter.
However, let’s chat about the Tropic Glow Shea Sugar Body Scrub. Holy. Heck. You guys – this product kick’s Sol de Janeiro’s fanny in the most fantastic way. I cannot get enough of this $9 scrub. Not only does is literally smell like summer (Almond, Golden Amber, and Australian Sandalwood), but it literally leaves your skin glowing, soft, and smooth. It’s hands-down one of the best scrubs I’ve ever had on my loofah.
So there you have it – my true and honest thoughts on Sol de Janeiro vs Tropic Glow by Tree Hut. Have you tried either of these products? Let me know in the comments! And don’t forget to join me on The Bargaining Bandit to get immediate alerts on the best beauty deals.
